A Book and A Bite – Eerie Edibles

This fall and winter, Parks and Rec is offering another “Book and a Bite” class for 2-3 year olds. Luke participated in the class over the summer and had a lot of fun, so we eagerly signed up for these classes!

The theme for the first session was “Eerie Edibles.”  Addie read “The Littlest Pumpkin” to all the kids before we started cooking.

Here’s Luke, Asher and Lexie listening to the story.  Luke’s friend Taven was at the class also – it was a nice small group.

Once the book was finished, the kids got to help make pumpkin-shaped pancakes.  Each one had a specific job to help mix up the pancake batter.

While the pancakes were cooking on the griddle, the kids made Oreo cookie spiders.

Luke was pretty excited about the spiders he made all by himself!

Once the pancakes came off the griddle, the kids made jack-o-lantern faces on them with fruit before they ate them.

The last recipe was banana ghost pops – made with half a banana covered in white chocolate with chocolate chip eyes and a cinnamon candy mouth. They were delicious (the moms each made one too!)  It was a fun evening.

And finally, here’s a picture of Luke and Beka in their pre-Halloween outfits, before we headed off to the cooking class.
