Colorado Trip!

A few weeks ago we took a family trip to Boulder, CO so that Vance could attend Pete Wernick's Beginner Banjo Camp. This gave Luke and I plenty of time to explore Boulder and do some fun stuff both on our own and with Aunt Wendy!

We got to the hotel past Luke's bedtime, and while he had fallen asleep in the car, he woke up when we took him into the hotel, and it was pretty cold out too. So we wrapped him up in a blanket and he sat on the bed while we got everything situated in the hotel room. He was obviously confused as to where we were and what was going on, and just sat there on the bed - so we took some pictures! We felt very bad for him and he actually ended up sleeping with us the first night in the "strange" hotel room!
He was much better by the next day and adjusted pretty well to our new living arrangements for the next week. The next activity he and I did was to go to a "Bounce Town", where they have lots of those big inflatable moonwalks and slides and stuff set up. The first 30 minutes we were there, Luke just kind of ran around and watched all the other kids play on the equipment. He was having fun, but I couldn't coax him to get onto anything. Eventually though he decided that other kids his size looked like they were having fun, so he decided he wanted to go on the moonwalk... and then was having a blast!!

After the moonwalk, we went over to the HUGE slide they had set up, which I never thought he would want to go down. But there was a little girl at the top that was around his age, and I think he looked up there and said "if she can get up there I can too" and proceeded to start to climb. It took him a while, but he made it to the top. I was somewhat concerned that he would get to the top and then not want to come down and I would have to figure out how to climb up there and get him, but lo and behold, he came right down, backwards and on his stomach! He thought it was so much fun he went up about 10 more times!

So Luke ended up having a great time at Bounce Town - we'll have to see if there is someplace like that in our general area! The next day we went to stay with Aunt Wendy and Uncle Micah for the night. We went to the Denver Aquarium, which was conveniently right down the street from their house! Luke really enjoyed looking at the fish I think.Yes - that is a real shark - there were several in the tank, Luke was pretty fascinated by them.

The next morning we went to the Denver Children's Museum - also right down the street from Wendy and Micah. It was very cool, and had a whole section for kids 0-4 years old. Luke had so much fun playing in there! He eventually found this slide and actually went down it like you are supposed to go down a slide - I think a Luke First! (recall his slide positions from earlier in this post and from other posts!)We also spent some time during the week going to a very nice mall just south of Boulder - they had lots of stores and a really big children's play area, and even some tiny picnic tables with crayons and coloring sheets. It was dinosaur themed, and there were lots of dinosaurs to climb on.

Soon the week was over, and after stopping down in Colorado Springs to visit Kent, Wanda, Eric and his AWESOME Lego train setup, we headed home. Luke got some new sunglasses while we were in Boulder, and he fell asleep wearing them in the car, so we took a picture of him.

While we had a great time in Colorado, it was definitely nice to get back home to our normal routine! Vance is much better at the banjo now, and had a good time at his classes for the week. You'll have to ask him to play for you now!
